Mary Hawkins is a dedicated and respected teacher with the Logan County Board of Education in West Virginia.
Ms. Hawkins has a wide range of responsibilities with the district, including teaching public speaking classes to 10th-grade students and teaching American literature classes to 11th-grade students. Ms. Hawkins also established and coordinates a creative writing camp for students in her school district.
Ms. Hawkins, who earned a master’s degree in secondary education an curriculum instruction from Marshall University, has nearly two decades of experience in the education field. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, and participated in the international conference of the National Writing Project in Holland.
Ms. Hawkins has earned numerous awards during her long career, including receiving the Yearbook Award from both Logan Middle School and Logan Central Junior High School. She was named teacher of the Year at Chapmanville Middle School in 1996. Ms. Hawkins is a noted expert in Holocaust literature.
When Ms. Hawkins isn’t busy teaching, she enjoys reading and scrapbooking.
